I am so sick of that term rhetoric. All it means is that I am trying to argue my beliefs. Isn’t that what everyone does? You make it sound like I’m trying to incite violence or something, please refrain from disrespecting me. Anyways, the reality is that the banks and GM have been nationalized. They just won’t say it because that would be socialist. The pay czar has capped their pay, and they pretty much have the power to fire the CEO . That sounds a bit like the govt owns them. Don’t you think?
rhetoric is persuasive speech- it is also somewhat synonymous with propaganda and lying.
Aristotle’s treatise on rhetoric is great reading- I recommend it highly.
If the govt owns the banks, when do the taxpayers get their profits?
Again, there seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding.
The major banks recorded record profits last year. The taxpayer received NONE of those profits.
If the govt owns those industries, that means we take their profits.
Do you understand?
Ya I know what the definition is, don’t patronize me. I don’t appreciate being called a liar, and the new left uses rhetoric just as much as any neocon does.
Look obviously the government doesn’t own the banks. But they have overstepped the boundaries in a capitalist society, which is why I name it socialism. If you wanna call it corporatism go ahead, either way Obama (and Congress) support policies that I believe to be un-American.
I wasn’t trying to insult you and I don’t think you are a liar. I think you are uninformed.
Corporatism has been around for a long time. Reagan was a corporatist.
If you believe Corporatism is un-American, you are in good company. Lincoln, Jefferson, Brandeis, and many other great American thinkers have expressed concern about growing corporate power.
Vote for Nader- he is the ONLY candidate discussing corporatism as the greatest threat to our republic.
Have a nice day.
un-American ? What is un-American ? Do you think corporations should be able to do anything they want no matter what the consequences for others ? What is American is what the people define it to be not what corporations want it to be.
The government runs the military, the schools, the police departments, fire department (in man cases). Are you saying these are bad and that private industry would do better ? Like they did in the financial meltdown and GM ?Perhaps we should by from the compay store, live in the company house and be nothing more than either a corp asset or garbage to be tossed out when no longer making a profit. Is that what you see as heaven ?
Look,
If you peel away al the crappy layers surrounding the center of the HC bills floated by the pelosi whipped senate, and you left only one thing, it would be the MANDATE TO BUY…..THIS IS WHERE THE BATTLE IS….lets keep the focus on the real battle…Scott Brown interceded, time interceded and allowed the filthy rich to hide their assetts and lay off all their workers and get small to avoid the ramifications of such nonsense…..The window of opportunity has closed CHUMPS..YOU ARE CHUMPS.
Who are you talking to? Because both of us just agreed that corporations are bad… maybe you misread.
Well, factions in general are a threat to the union. I support Ron Paul. He is the only one who understands our financial crisis. The government needs to stop spending so much money, and we need a president who has the guts to veto a bill for once.
Yes, I did misread. I was responding to Trist.
What hubris. The US is right and the rest of the world is wrong. Is that it ? No wonder there is so little respect for the US anymore. We don’t deserve it.
And it will be better in the short. Single payer NOW !!
There is abuse but this is a very small part of the overall problem. If there is tort reform then they should also be more transparency with the doctors record of care.
Un-American is a stupid term meant to define those who disagree with you as hating the country. The right did it masterfully during the lead up to the invasion of Iraq.
Also, I am not the one who used the term first, I was just responding to it.
I think corporate power is at unprecedented levels and represents the primary threat to our republic.
have a nice day.
Vote Nader!
I am less concerned about the govt spending money and more concerned about getting a better value for that money.
Instead of throwing away trillions on needless, self-defeating invasions, why not invest in our country and our people?
Imagine if instead of invade Iraq, we had implemented and paid for universal health care coverage.
I think other industrialized countries get far better value for their tax dollars than the USA
Look chumps,
You don’t have the luxury to debate what people who make money do with it now do you?
Don’t you know that critical time has passed with the FAILED blomacare so much so that all those capitalists with the money have already laid off all their workers and hid their assets and you won’t be able to pig out on dozens of donuts and snort gallons of coffee on our dimes anymore chumps..Wake up..YOU have been Scott Brown-IZED man. The sleeping GIANT has INSOMNIA.You are political TOAST..
And we’ve been lookin for anyone on these HC threads who WANT the TAX & JAIL TROJAN HORSE MANDATE HC BIll you chumps are blabbering about and we can find noone that wants it…The old don’t want a HALF TRILLION in medicare cuts, the MIDDLE Class don’t want a WAR between UNIONS & PRIVATE SECTORs over cadillac plans, and the YOUNGENS ESPECIALLY want to OPT OUT cuz they are the CHUMPS that will be PAYING FOR EVERYONE….Wake up chumps,,snap out of it,…you’ve been SCOTT BROWNIZED MAN….chumps
Well said !
